Full-Time Position
Summary
The Campaign for Jewish Boys is a national initiative to transform how Jewish educators and leaders understand and work with teenage boys, many of whom drop out of Jewish life after bar mitzvah. The campaign is built on the organizations’ three-year research and program development initiative, now culminating in a report outlining the problem and providing recommendations to Jewish educators and policy-makers; new professional development and training; and an innovative program for 8th and 9th grade boys.
We seek a dynamic and entrepreneurial Director of the Campaign for Jewish Boys to take the campaign’s offerings national, to Jewish educators and the education establishment – and to Jewish teenage boys across the country. We seek a self-starter, with vision and passion who will help build a movement which empowers teenage boys to navigate adolescence and integrate Jewish teachings into their lives.The Director of the Campaign for Jewish Boys works with staff and the Board of Directors to help set goals and strategy. The Director helps develop and ensures the high quality of the Moving Traditions Training Institute, oversees program development and replication, represents Moving Traditions and the Campaign at national and local venues, helps raise funds, manages the budget, and evaluates program. The Director holds a full-time position based in the national office in Philadelphia area and travels several days each year. The Director reports to the Director of Education and Program.
Primary Responsibilities
- Take a strategic approach to project management:
- Develop and implement a long-range plan to achieve objectives
- Help evaluate and refine the Campaign model
- Manage budget and resources to ensure the achievement of annual and long-term goals
- Help develop and utilize the website, on-line communications, and to support Campaign goals
- Evaluate the Training Institute and Program replication; use the findings to improve Moving Traditions’ work
- Lead dissemination and application of Report findings
- Develop
a presentation strategy for educators and funders, including
conferences, webinars, symposia and calls
- Manage the report
distribution to national audiences
- Ensure high quality of the
Moving Traditions Training Institute
- Manage the planning and
execution of the Moving Traditions Training Institute
- Develop
content that is current and relevant
- Hire and train a team of
qualified trainers
- Supervise national and site-specific logistics.
- Program Replication
- Oversee the application process for new partners and empower
current institutional partners to be self-sufficient in running the
program
- Manage consultation and support offered to institutional partners and facilitators
- Securing Program Support
- Generate material for foundation proposals and reports
- Develop foundation and major donor leads and cultivate and solicit prospects as assigned
- Help develop and implement increased contact with parents and boys through e-newsletters, parent programs, alumni programs or other initiatives
Qualifications
- High-energy, independent and entrepreneurial professional
- Excellent planning, management, and problem solving skills
- Ability to take a strategic approach, and move forward longer-range initiatives while meeting shorter-term goals
- Strong sales and marketing experience a plus
- Experience in creating and delivering trainings and professional development
- Minimum of five years experience at the management level in a nonprofit organization
- Strong public speaking, writing and interpersonal communication skills
- Work effectively with all levels of staff, Board, funders, and community representatives
- An understanding of the developmental needs of adolescent boys and their cultural milieu
- A facility with the creative use of websites and technology to market and run program
- Ability to travel several days per year
- Knowledge of Judaism and the Jewish community
- Bachelor’s degree; Masters degree preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and database management.
