Are you interested in making a difference in the life of a teen feminist in the coming year?
Moving Traditions recently selected 50 young feminists to participate in Kol Koleinu, our year-long fellowship offered in collaboration with NFTY and USY, to help them explore and deepen their feminist knowledge, channel their voices to share their beliefs, and use their skills to create tangible change in their communities.
As part of the fellowship, the fellows plan and implement a social action project with the ultimate goal to create social change around a feminist issue. Previous fellowship projects have included creating an inclusive sexuality curriculum for high school students, building a webpage that reviews movies and television through a gender lens, and designing a workshop on voting with a feminist lens.
This is where you come in.
As a mentor, you will be a supportive cheerleader for your fellows, share your valuable skills and advice, and hold them accountable to their project timelines (to the best of your ability), as well as check in with Moving Traditions staff monthly to debrief the mentorship. You will give but you will also gain a lot – connection, purpose, the opportunity to make a difference. The mentor commitment is approximately one hour a month from November through May, most likely on nights and weekends. You will also be invited to a matching mixer to meet your teens, a mentor training, and the final presentation. Please note that while we have a small budget for honoraria, we are grateful for volunteers.
If you are interested in serving as a mentor, please fill out this registration form and let us know some of the skills you have to share with a young feminist.
