The Moving Traditions camp advisory board consists of senior camp professionals who are dedicated to creating a safer environment at camp and who bring to the table a diversity of expertise from education, social work, law, and professional training.
The advisory board for Cultureshift assisted us from 2017-2021 in the development of staff training tools, pilot-testing these tools, and conducting evaluation.

David Weinstein – Director, Tel Yehudah
Before beginning work in the Jewish camping world, David spent seventeen years as a high school teacher and educational consultant. David graduated from the University of Michigan with degrees in Judaic Studies and Political Science and has a master’s degree in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Debby Shriber, Director, Crane Lake
Debby has worked in the camping field for over 19 years. In addition to working with Reform movement camps she served as the director of Camp Poyntelle-Lewis Village, a JCC overnight camp in Wayne County, PA, for nine years. Debby holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University. Debby also serves as a mentor for the Foundation for Jewish Camp Yitro Fellowship.
Ariella Moss Peterseil – Camp Director, Ramah California
Ariella grew up in Jerusalem at the feminist Orthodox school Pelech and served as a Commander Teacher in the Education Unit of the IDF, working with juvenile delinquents. Ariella received recognition as Exemplary Soldier in the Training Course as well as the President of Israel’s Exemplary Soldier Award for the Education Unit. After the classic post-Army traveling, Ariella studied Jewish Philosophy at Hebrew University and Theater Production at The School of Visual Theater in Jerusalem.
Josh Levine, Director, Camp Alonim
Josh is in his tenth summer directing Camp Alonim. Prior to working in the camping world Josh was both a federal law clerk and an attorney. Josh attended Brown University and holds a law degree from UC Berkeley, where he edited the law review.
Toni Davison Levenberg – Director, Camp Interlaken
Prior to working at Camp Interlaken, Toni was the Assistant Director of House in the Wood Camp serving inner-city Chicago children, the Sales & Operations Manager of Camp CHI’s Perlstein Resort & Conference Center, and a Software Engineer with two major technology consulting firms. Toni has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida and a Master of Arts in Jewish Professional Studies from the Spertus Institute of Jewish Learning and Leadership.
Aviva Levine Jacobs – Director of Camper Care, Ramah California
Aviva completed a joint degree in Psychology and Judaic Studies at Brown University. She received her PysD in clinical psychology from the CA School of Professional Psychology in San Francisco with a focus on children and families. Aviva has worked as a therapist supporting children, teens, and families at the Lifespan Psychological Center in West Los Angeles and now lives in Chicago.
Rabbi Bradley Solmsen – Director, Surprise Lake Camp
Bradley previously served as the North American Director of Youth Engagement for the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) and the Director of Brandeis University’s Office of High School Programs which includes BIMA and Genesis. Rabbi Solmsen was ordained at The Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion in New York and received a Masters degree in Jewish education from The William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education of The Jewish Theological Seminary.
